The weeks before the arrival of our first somalis we made the house suitable for the cats.
Scratching posts, cat litter trays, comfortable cat beds, blankets, food, etcetera……should be ready to hand when our new companions move into our home.
As we don’t allow the Somali to leave the house we altered the balcony. First of all we gave away the sunshade and the garden furniture. Then we roofed the balcony completely and attached a net to prevent escaping.
 After that we changed the balcony into an adventure playground. A tree from the near by forest was set up quickly. With some artificial branches and leaves it really looked quite amazing. From another tree we only needed the trunk and soon the cats had a sturdy scratching post with comfortable seats to survey the garden.

Only a confined space and two chairs for watching our companions have remained.
At the very top there are resting places with a wonderful view over the garden. A real tree to sharpen their claws and rustling plants as hiding-places.
Additionally we planted some bamboo into 4 huge tubs and put it onto the balcony. Now it looks like a small jungle.
